What we're asked for, and what we can give
You should know how often governments and others ask us for user data — and, honestly, how little we can technically hand over.
Reporting period: since launch · Last updated: July 2026
The short version
Because Frendy is end-to-end encrypted, we cannot provide message content, media, your keys or your PIN — we do not have them and cannot decrypt them. The most we can ever provide, under a valid legal order, is the limited metadata described in our Privacy Policy. Very often, that means there is nothing useful for us to hand over.
Warrant canary
As of the date below, Frendy has:
- Received zero government or law-enforcement requests for user data;
- Never received a national security order or a gag order;
- Never been compelled to add a backdoor, weaken our encryption, or hand over encryption keys — and we never will do so voluntarily.
This statement is refreshed periodically. If it ever disappears or stops being updated, treat its absence as a signal.

Requests by period
| Period | Requests received | Accounts affected | Content disclosed | Metadata disclosed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 0 | 0 | 0 · impossible | 0 |
"Content disclosed" is and will remain technically impossible, not merely zero by policy — we have no way to read or produce it.
How we handle requests
- We review each request for validity and legal basis.
- We provide only what a valid order compels and only what we technically hold — never message content, because we cannot.
- Where the law allows, we notify affected users.
- Where a gag order legally prevents us from reporting a specific request, the warrant canary above is how we communicate what we cannot say directly.
